PREMIERE: Brisbane’s Layer Cake Bring The Vampire Weekend Vibes On Sunny New Indie-Rock Bop ‘Empty Promises’

Written by Emmy Mack on February 20, 2019

Brisbane’s Layer Cake have splashed us in the face with a refreshing burst of jangly indie-rock goodness.

Dubbed ‘Empty Promises’, the band’s sunny new bop was produced, engineered and recorded by Matt Redlich (Ball Park Music/Holy Holy/Emma Louise) at Melbourne’s Head Gap Studios and The Aviary.

“Layer Cake’s second self-acclaimed smash hit single soon to be your new favourite song is our empty promise to you,” the foursome explain. “Coming atcha full of sweetness and that extra tang!”

Guaranteed to quench your thirst for Vampire Weekend, The Kooks or The Strokes, ‘Empty Promises’ represents our first lick of the band’s debut self titled EP, which is due to land soon.
