Music Feeds Podcast Episode #111: Kiesza

Canadian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Kiesza was recently confirmed as the very first act on the lineup for the 2015 instalment of the Future Music Festival, and after disappointingly having to cancel her Australian debut earlier this year, she can’t wait to get here.

“You have no idea how excited I am,” the singer told Music Feeds. “Australia is one of those place I’ve been dreaming of going to since I was a kid. It’s like something Canadians do, go to Australia for life.”

Kiesza has penned songs for pop superstars like Rihanna, Kylie Minogue and Icona Pop while her own smash hit Hideaway has been viewed more than 61 million times on YouTube. When she gets here in 2015 she will be armed with her debut full length Sound of a Woman.

“It’s strange to be releasing a full album, especially when it’s so personal,” explains the singer. “It’s things I’ve been through myself, everything on this album. It’s sort of like a love story…but something I actually went through. It’s very vulnerable to be putting all that out to the world, but I’m also very proud of it.”

The Canadian star also says fans of Hideaway, might be surprised by the album’s diversity. “I know for some people they’re going to be a little thrown off, not expecting that. I think a lot of people know me for Hideaway and think of me as this dance artist but I have ballads, I have r’n’b floor tracks, I have a little bit of hip hop thrown in the mix. So there’s quiet a lot going on.”
