Canberra lyricist KG has held his ground while simultaneously embracing his own destiny on breezy new cut ‘Doin’ Me’.
The song represents KG’s head first dive into an unexplored – for him at least – realm of hip-hop, and he’s assisted with the smooth vocals of Melbourne’s Françoistunes.
In a statement, KG unveiled what he wanted to achieve in creating ‘Doin’ Me’ and how it simultaneously came together almost by accident.
“‘Doin’ Me’ is a venture into a new sound and style of hip-hop,” he said.
“Working in the studio for a year with Taka Perry has been an amazing time and I developed so much as an artist, finding my unique sound. We really tried to find the right mix of lyricism and music. One day we just hopped into the studio and discussed some concepts then was like, ‘You know what? Who cares, let’s just do us and do what we do best.’ – ‘Doin’ Me’ was born.”
On top of the new release, KG has also announced a tour to take this new track around the country. It’ll kick off in Darwin in October, and will wrap up in Melbourne in December.
