PREMIERE: Listen To Sarah Yagki’s Brooding Alt-Pop Bop ‘Shared Eyes’

Sydney songwriter Sarah Yagki shared her previous single ‘This Won’t Hurt’ back in January, and now she’s following it up with the striking ‘Shared Eyes’ – which we’re premiering here at Music Feeds before it officially arrives this Friday, 26th March.

Recorded with James Gudio at Obseen Recordings in Bowral, along with mastering engineer Klaus Hill, ‘Shared Eyes’ is a brooding alt-pop cut that steadily builds from its understated verses into big, assertive chorus.

It’s emotionally rich and affecting without slipping into melancholy – the darker production elements are a perfect backdrop for Yagki’s commanding vocals, which really anchor the whole song.

“‘Shared Eyes’ acts as a storybook to retelling my distant relationship with a parent. The verse I created to represent me as a child and the song transitions through my teenage years,” Yagki explains.

“I’ve been writing songs since I was 13 and quite often, they come quickly to me. ‘Shared Eyes’ was actually written over many years as the subject matter was constantly evolving as I was growing with the song.”

Yagki will celebrate the release of ‘Shared Eyes’ along with forthcoming single ‘Can’t Hardly Lie’ with a hometown launch show later this year. That’ll take place at the Vanguard in Sydney on Wednesday, 19th May – tickets are available here.
