A State Memorial For Michael Gudinski Will Go Ahead At Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena

The music world continues to mourn the loss of the late, great Michael Gudinski, and now details have been shared around his forthcoming public state memorial.

The memorial, which was confirmed by Victorian PM Daniel Andrews earlier this month, will happen at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on Wednesday, 24th March.

Mushroom Group confirmed that Gudinski’s family accepted Andrews’ offer of a state memorial, and that details on how to attend the service will be made available later this week. Gudinski will be buried at a private family service later this week.

Tributes for the music mogul have come in from all across the world, including from the likes of Ed Sheeran, Kylie Minogue, Bryan Adams, Vance Joy and more.

Bruce Springsteen delivered a special tribute to his friend, writing “Michael always spoke with a deep rumbling voice, and the words would spill out so fast that half the time I needed an interpreter.

“But I could hear him clear as a bell when he would say, ‘Bruce, I’ve got you covered.’ And he always did.”

Michael Gudinski passed away last week, after suffering a heart attack overnight. He was 68 years old.
