After a year off, ABC’s live music show, The Set will return to our TVs for a third season in 2021.
The Set saw artists like Amy Shark, Ball Park Music, Montaigne, and Sampa The Great deliver performances and aired for the last time in October 2019.
While, there’s no set return date yet, ABC shared the news via its Upfronts 2021 announcement.
The Set debuted in 2018 and was then taken off air after its second season in 2019.
TV Tonight reported back in January that the national broadcaster had budgeting issues with the show.
“That’s another show that is dear to my heart… having Australian music back on TV is one of the things that I’m really a champion of,” ABC’s Director of Entertainment Michael Carrington told the publication.
“I’m really struggling to get the budget together to create more. Chris Scadden who is the head of music development is desperately trying to find a way of bringing it back in some format.
The Set saw three artists share performances each episode in front of a live audience. Next year’s season is also confirmed to have OG hosts, Dylan Alcott and Linda Marigliano back.
The ABC will also be welcoming Spicks and Specks back for a new 10-episode season next year. How good.
