Allday & Japanese Wallpaper Join Forces For New Single & Tour

Adelaide rapper Allday (real name Tom Gaynor) and producer Japanese Wallpaper (Gab Strum) have teamed up for a new single called ‘In Motion’, and they’re heading out on tour together as well.

‘In Motion’, which you can stream below, is the third track to be lifted from Allday’s upcoming new album Speeding, which is set for release on 21st April.

Speeding was recorded in Melbourne, and also features collaborations with Gracelands, Nyne and Mallrat, and it comes after some serious internal processing by Allday.

Speeding is what happens when a drug addled and depressed rapper starts listening to country music and Nick Cave,” he says.

“For me, it was often difficult to make because, whether or not you can hear it, I had to grow a lot to get the music to where I wanted it. We were much more selective with sounds this time around.

“For a long time I’ve tried to experiment with songwriting versus rap writing, and I think I found a nice balance in some moments on this record. For the most part I stayed away from a lot of my usual songwriting crutches: growing up and trying to ‘make it’ etc.

Speeding is a deliberately vague chronicle of a difficult time in my life, but at this moment I can say I like it a lot, and I’m hopeful people will enjoy it too. May I never again take 3 years to release an album.”

Allday will take Speeding on a national tour this July, hitting Melbourne, Sydney, Perth and Brisbane in July with Japanese Wallpaper in tow. Also joining the tour will be Nicole Millar, and another yet-to-be-announced “special guest”.
