Announcing Wildflower, The New Aussie Festival Celebrating Women in Music

With Australia holding out for a stronger, better 2022, the crew over at Empire Touring and TEG Live have got our collective tongues wagging this morning with the announcement of the inaugural Wildflower music festival, with a bill featuring (exclusively) a best-of list of some of the best female songwriters the country has to offer.

Celebrating women in music? Always a good time!

Doing so while marking the return of the hallowed live music festival in a (hopefully) post-pandemic world? Now we’re really talking!

Headlined by none other than Missy Higginsand the likes of Kasey Chambers, Kate Miller-Heidke, and Sarah Blasko are just some of the names sharing the stage, and you’ve got one hell of a day out.

With three dates booked in some of the countries most scenic locations (Hunter Valley road trip anyone?), we’re convinced we’ve got a home run on our hands as far as live events go.

“I’m beyond thrilled to be a part of Wildflower.  All the women involved are total inspirations and some were actually really big influences on me in the early days of my career,” enthuses Missy Higgins.

“There’s something about being on the road with so many powerful creative women, it’s so rare it kind of creates magic when it happens.

I was involved in the second round of Lilith Fair (female-only touring music festival) in America about ten years ago and it goes down as one of the best experiences I have ever had, I made lifelong friends out of it. I have no doubt this will be the same, but this time showcasing to the country the huge amount of Aussie talent we have here.”

“The line-up contains some of my musical and personal heroes, as well as some dear friends, and it’s going to be unforgettable not just for the audience but for us as well,” adds Miller-Heidke.

“Wildflower is here to celebrate women in music, many festival lineups have an underrepresentation of women,” says Empire Touring general manager Isobel Lanesman.

“It is a time to celebrate women in Australian music – artists, producers, and designers – collaborating to bring together a show of extraordinary talents.”
