Anthrax Are Recording Drums In GoT’s Iron Throne Room

The Westeros throne room in the fictional city of King’s Landing, in which the Iron Throne is kept and where so many Game Of Thrones storylines have played out, will soon be taken over by thrash metal legends Anthrax, who will use the room as a recording space.

According to Metal Hammer, Anthrax guitarist and lyricist Scott Ian is a huge GOT fan, and has revealed that the band will record drums for their next album in the throne room, which is part of HBO’s set in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Ian was reportedly introduced to GOT executive producer Dan Weiss by a friend of his who works in HBO’s accounting department. Weiss, luckily enough, is a massive Anthrax fan. Ian recently told the Metal Hammer Magazine show on TeamRock Radio that Weiss was super-excited about the prospect of having Anthrax record on set.

“I asked Dan Weiss ‘Hey man, what would be the possibility of us recording the drums for the next album in the throne room?'” Ian said, before adding, “Like we bring a mobile studio and set up the drums, mic everything and record in here. [Weiss] says ‘Oh my God that would be the sickest thing ever. We know the guys that can make that possible’.”

Ian also explained to GoT fans just why the show may appear to be “very metal” in nature. “All of you out there who watch Game Of Thrones, much like me, probably think it is a very metal TV show,” he said. “And just know, the reason for that is that one of the creators of it is a huge metalhead.”

Anthrax have shared a link to the announcement on their official Facebook page, adding that they will “at least film a video in [the Westeros throne room]”. Ian has also said that the band’s 11th studio/throne room album will be released in 2015.
