Metalcore multiverse moment incoming…
US heavyweights August Burns Red have just dropped a brand new heater, ‘Sonic Salvation’, and they’ve roped in none other than Jamie Hails from Aussie juggernauts Polaris for the ride. And yep, it absolutely goes as hard as you’re hoping.
August Burns Red – ‘Sonic Salvation’ ft. Jamie Hails
Lifted from their upcoming album Season Of Surrender (out June 5 via Fearless Records), ‘Sonic Salvation’ is pure catharsis – punishing breakdowns, massive gang chants, and that sweet spot where melody meets chaos. Guitarist JB Brubaker says the track was written to give more space for vocals and lean further into their hardcore roots, while frontman Jake Luhrs frames it as a love letter to music itself, the thing that pulls us back from the brink, connects scenes, and keeps the whole engine running.
And then there’s Jamie Hails, who steps in and absolutely launches the track into the stratosphere. It’s a collab that just makes sense – especially given ABR’s long-standing love affair with Aussie crowds, and Polaris’ status as one of the country’s most beloved heavy exports right now.
The accompanying video doubles down on that connection too, featuring fans singing and playing along – a nod to the global metal community that’s kept ABR thriving for over two decades. Wholesome? Yes. Still heavy as hell? Also yes.
The drop lands just ahead of ABR’s return to Australia this September/October, where they’ll headline their first run here in seven years – and crucially, the first place in the world they’ll be touring behind Season Of Surrender. If ‘Sonic Salvation’ is anything to go by, those shows are about to be feral.
Safe to say: the pits are preheating.
