Australia’s “Folk Punk Orgy” Festival HOBOFOPO Reveals First Acts For 2017

UPDATE: HOBOFOPO has now unveiled its full 2017 lineup.

ORIGINAL STORY: Australia’s original “folk punk orgy” festival, HOBOFOPO, is back for its second year with a first-round lineup announcement that’s packing a whole lot of folk and, well, punk.

12 acts have been revealed for this year’s festival, which will take place at various venues in Hobart this October. Topping the list of first additions are US scuzz punks AJJ (formerly Andrew Jackson Jihad) and former Sydney City Trash member Paddy McHugh, who’s previously supported the likes of Sinead O’Connor and Frenzal Rhomb with his brand of alt-country.

In total, the 12 acts announced today supposedly make up less than half of the festival’s full 2017 roster, which will be revealed in full in the coming weeks and months.

Run by Folk ‘Til Ya Punk Records, HOBOFOPO made its debut in November last year with sets by the likes of The Go Set and Handsome Young Strangers.
