If you’re in a band that has at least one female member, then you could be in with a chance of supporting two of Australia’s most beloved female-fronted rock acts, Baby Animals and The Superjesus, on their upcoming She Who Rocks tour.
A competition has been launched exclusively for Aussie bands with female members to vie for a coveted local support slot for the national trek this May and June, which kicks off in Baby Animals’ frontwoman Suze DeMarchi’s hometown of Perth before taking in two Melbourne shows, blazing through Wollongong, Sydney, Brisbane and Sarah McLeod’s hometown of Adelaide, and wrapping up in Hobart.
Local ladies of rock can apply for the choice gig using the GiggedIn platform. All bands will go into a public vote, resulting in a shortlist. The winning support acts will then be decided by an industry panel, including the She Who Rocks promoters, Social Family Records, and the headline artists.
Voting closes on May 1st, 2015, with the lucky winners to be notified the following week, on Friday 8th May.
McLeod and DeMarchi have been friends for years but this will be the first time they have played on the same bill, following the cancellation of their appearance at 2015’s A Day On The Green concert series, when they were replaced by an all-male lineup featuring Billy Idol.
