Basement Jaxx Booked For Australian Cricket Tour

Many punters are beginning to ask where the Australian Cricket Associations heads are at after the Herald Sun reported that the 2013 Summer Cricket Season would feature entertainment from none other than the Basement Jaxx. Famous for their deep house roots, the British duo will play three sets (so far) during One Day matches against Sri Lanka.

One would think that they would let the sportsmen Do Their Thing; however, it is possible that this is part of a new marketing campaign to entice punters to purchase tickets to the events come January. Cricket attendance has seen dismal attendance numbers as of late, with the local State tournament failing to raise numbers above 5,000 for venues that can cater tenfold more than that.

Unfortunately for fans of the Basement Jaxx, these performances are not their famous live show, rather a mere DJ set; however, the dates do coincide with the Big Day Out festival, which means there is a slight chance we could be seeing a new Boiler Room addition (dialling Ken West).

Regardless, this is a new move for Australian sport: booking a decent act compared to last year’s purchase of Meatloaf; at least we know that our entertainment is in safe hands!
