Belgian post-black metal heavyweights Oathbreaker are finally making their long-awaited Australian debut, announcing a pair of cursed headline shows for March 2027 with an absolutely mega lineup of extreme music talent.
The genre-defying outfit will descend upon Brisbane and Sydney alongside Texan metal punks Portrayal of Guilt and Australia’s own screamo firebrands Blind Girls, ahead of their appearance at Melbourne’s inaugural Lucidity Festival.
Oathbreaker – Rheia (Full Album)
The headline shows will take place at Brisbane’s Crowbar on Thursday, 11th March, with local post-metal outfit Slowcut opening proceedings, followed by Sydney’s Crowbar on Friday, 12th March, where Melbourne experimental grindcore unit Diploid will kick things off.
The tour marks Oathbreaker’s first-ever trip to the Southern Hemisphere, arriving hot on the heels of their long-awaited reunion.
After establishing themselves as one of the most compelling forces in modern extreme music with their emotionally devastating blend of black metal, hardcore, screamo, shoegaze, sludge and post-punk, Oathbreaker announced a hiatus in 2018.
The band reunited in 2026 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of their landmark third studio album, Rheia, which originally arrived in 2016.
That anniversary celebration will also take centre stage at the sold-out Lucidity Festival in Melbourne on Saturday, 13th March, where Oathbreaker are set to perform Rheia in its entirety.
Joining them on their Australian headline dates will be fellow first-time visitors Portrayal of Guilt, the relentlessly inventive Texan trio who’ve spent the past decade dismantling the boundaries between black metal, death metal, hardcore, crust, screamo and powerviolence.
The band will be touring in support of their 2026 record …Beginning of The End, bringing their own brand of genre-mutating sonic brutality to Australian stages for the first time.
Rounding out the touring package are Gold Coast screamo stalwarts Blind Girls, whose ferocious, emotionally charged sound has made them a formidable presence in Australia’s underground heavy music scene.
Brisbane’s Slowcut will add another dose of anguish to the hometown show, while Melbourne’s experimental grindcore outfit Diploid will make their first Sydney appearance in several years.
With Oathbreaker’s long-awaited arrival, Portrayal of Guilt’s Australian debut and a formidable cast of local support acts, this is shaping up to be one of the most punishingly beautiful heavy music bills of 2027.
