Between You & Me Announce Indefinite Hiatus

Between You And Me are taking a breather and it’s unclear when – or if – they’ll be back. The Naarm/Melbourne pop-punk favourites took to social media to reflect on a hugely successful 2024, and to share their decision to press the pause button on their music careers, at least for now.

“After being a band for almost 8 years, it feels like 2024 was a culmination of a lot of hard work,” they wrote on Instagram. “It also feels like a year where we finally reached ‘the finish line’ for Between You & Me.”

“We’re not sure what’s next for BYAM, or if there will be anything more”

The band’s statement continued, reflecting on the milestones they’ve achieved over the past 12 months: “For the first time, BYAM headlined in the UK & USA. A dream we never thought could be possible – selling out shows on the other side of the world. We released our independent EP SH!T Yeah. We also headlined Australia, twice. Including our biggest ever shows and heading to regional Australia for the very first time.”

The five-piece of Jake, James, Jai, Jamey and Chris then went on to outline where their heads are at following such a full-on year.

“In an industry where you are always looking for the next big opportunity and continuously feeling unfulfilled, 2024 was our year to reflect on the wild things we’ve been able to achieve,” they wrote. “The journey for us has been slow and gradual with a lot of bumps in the road, but for a band without a label or management, it’s time to smell the roses.”

“We’ve spent our lives chasing ‘the dream’ and for now, we are content with taking time away from BYAM. A hiatus if you will, but more so time and space to live our adult existence. We’re not sure what’s next for BYAM, or if there will be anything more, and if this is it, then we are immensely grateful for the journey we were able to go on.”

Their statement then concluded: “Thank you to everyone for a special 2024. To those that came to a show, bought some merch, said hello, listened to our music. We are truly thankful that you decided to support 5 people from Australia chasing their dreams. Bye.”

Thanks for the music, BYAM. Hopefully we get to see you again after you’ve had a chance to recharge and refresh.
