BIGSOUND has released its first announcement of artists and speakers for this year’s global music gathering. The performers thus far revealed include Xavier Rudd, Stonefield, Megan Washington and Dune Rats.
Although only a dozen local artists are on the first announcement, BIGSOUND 2013 will witness 120 different acts from home and aboard playing over the 3-day event.
As for the initial wave of speakers, those heading along to BIGSOUND will be taught a thing or two by English artist and activist Billy Bragg. Amanda Palmer will also speak before the BIGSOUND crowd. Last year Palmer raised over $1 million via Kickstarter for 2012 album Theatre Is Evil and cancelled her 2013 tour plans to support a friend battling cancer.
Other speakers include veteran Australian alternative act Regurgitator, country songstress Kasey Chambers, and a whole heap more.
The first round of international industry representatives for the conference program has also been announced. Indie label Bella Union will be reped by UK’s Simon Raymonde. Billy Jones, a NYC venue booker, will share his experiences as will Nashville producer Brad Jones.
You can check out the full first announcement list of artists and speakers at BIGSOUND 2013 below.
BIGSOUND earlybird tickets are now available until May 20 from www.bigsound.org.au giving punters the full experience including access to all panels, parties, exhibitions and live music events. BIGSOUND Live Passes will go on sale in June.
BIGSOUND 2013 is held in Brisbane from the 11th-13th September.
