BIGSOUND Recruit More Big Names For 2016 Speaker Lineup

BIGSOUND 2016‘s list of industry speakers has blown out with the addition of some international grunge and hip-hop luminaries.

Sonic Youth founder Kim Gordon, rap forefather-turned-Stones Throw Records head Peanut Butter Wolf and his label mate J Rocc will all be heading Down Under to deliver keynote speeches at Australia’s biggest music industry conference.

“It is an absolute honour to welcome these iconic cultural figures to BIGSOUND this year,” said co-programmer Nick O’Byrne of the new additions. “Kim Gordon has been on our dream list of speakers for years and we’re so excited to hear from such an influential, challenging and still-relevant figure in music and art.

“Also on that dream-list has been one of the most important labels in the history of hip-hop, Stones Throw. We can’t wait to hear founder Peanut Butter Wolf and long standing label mate J Rocc reflect on the music and people who have made it so seminal.”

They’ll be joined by previously announced keynoters Jaddan Comerford (UNIFIED) and A.B. Original (Briggs & Trials), as well as a cavalcade of other incredibly diverse industry speakers and buyers from across Australia and the globe.

More than 40 of those have only just been announced, including head of Pandora’s US Music Maker program Lars Murray, Milk! Records’ Jen Cloher, Collision Course PR’s Tim Price and more.

BIGSOUND 2016 will also feature a buttload of industry masterclasses, while a whopping 89 artists have already been announced on the conference’s live music programme, including A.D.K.O.B, BANFF, Gideon Bensen, Tigertown, Totally Unicorn, Sydonia and more.

BIGSOUND 2016 will run across 3 nights, from 7th – 9th September in Queensland’s cultural nerve centre of Fortitude Valley, lining up 150 bands across 15 venues.
