Billie Eilish and Finneas Make History As Youngest Two-Time Oscar Winners With ‘Barbie’ Song Victory

Billie Eilish and Finneas made history at the 2024 Oscars, winning their second Academy Award for Best Original Song with “What Was I Made For?” from the movie “Barbie”. Billie Eilish (22) and Finneas (26) are now the youngest to achieve this feat.

Their earlier win came in 2022 for “No Time to Die” from the James Bond film. Eilish joked about having nightmares before the win, expressing surprise and gratitude on stage. She thanked “Barbie” director Greta Gerwig and dedicated the win to everyone touched by the movie.

Billie Eilish : “I had a nightmare about this last night”

Billie Eilish received the award and gave a speech saying. “I had a nightmare about this last night, Thank you so much to the Academy. I feel like—I just didn’t think this would happen. I was not expecting this. I feel so incredibly lucky and honored.”

Billie Eilsh continued her speech saying. “Thank you to Greta—where did you go? I love you! Thank you for this. I’m so thankful for this song and for this movie, and the way that it made me feel. And this goes out to everyone who was affected by the movie and how incredible it is. And I want to thank my team and my parents. I love you guys so much.”

While, Finneas thanked their parents and Margot Robbie, the producer and star of “Barbie”. Their emotional ballad triumphed over other nominees like Ryan Gosling’s “I’m Just Ken” and “It Never Went Away” by Jon Batiste.

This victory adds Billie Eilish and Finneas to the elite group of under-30s with multiple Oscars, alongside Jodie Foster and Hilary Swank. Despite their success, they remain humble and feel honoured to be part of the Oscar nominations.
