Aussie hip hop crew Bliss N Eso have announced a tribute show in honour of Johann Ofner, the stuntman who was shot dead on the set of a Bliss N Eso music video in January.
The tribute show will be held at the Coolangatta Hotel near Johann Ofner’s hometown on the Gold Coast this March, with all proceeds from the show going into a trust for Ofner’s daughter.
The show’s venue, suppliers and ticketing company have all waived their fees for the tribute show, and a t-shirt designed for the cause will also be on sale at the gig, with all proceeds from sales also going to the trust.
In a statement, Bliss N Eso say, “The past few weeks have been some of the toughest times we’ve ever been through both individually and as a band.
“It has been a constant roller coaster of emotions and we really appreciate all the ongoing support from our friends, family and loyal fans. We continue to offer our support to the family and friends of Johann Ofner who tragically passed away on the set of our music video.
“We are thankful for his family’s blessing in allowing us to put on this tribute concert, to celebrate the life of this amazing man and loving father.”
Bliss N Eso have used their most recent tour to pay tribute to Ofner, dedicating their song ‘Friend Like You’ to the actor’s memory at various shows.
Ofner was killed during the filming of Bliss N Eso’s music video for ‘Friend Like You’, by a gun which supposedly loaded with blanks. A crowdfunding campaign has already raised thousands of dollars for his family.
Bliss N Eso have also decided to delay the release of their forthcoming album Off The Grid, which will now be released on Friday, 28th April after originally being scheduled for release in March.
