BASSINTHEGRASS 2024: Macklemore, Jet, King Stingray + More

The full lineup for BASSINTHEGRASS 2024 is here. Previously announced headliner Macklemore will be joined by ARIA Hall of Fame inductees Jet, Yolŋu funk rock outfit King Stingray, the heavily-memed Bag Raiders and plenty more. The all ages festival is happening on Darwin’s Mindil Beach, on Larrakia country, on Saturday, 18th May.

In a recent social media post, BASSINTHEGRASS organisers claimed 2024 would be “the BIGGEST and BEST BASSINTHEGRASS ever.” In addition to the festival slot, Macklemore is heading over for his first Australian headline tour in more than six years. His latest album, BEN, came out in March 2023.

King Stingray – ‘Lupa’

Macklemore is one of three international acts on the lineup, along with US dance duo Walker & Royce and UK house producer Sam Divine. There’ll also be performances from pop rock combo Middle Kids, indie festival staples The Jungle Giants, metalcore band Northlane, NT hip hop artist J-MILLA, sibling dance duo Kinder, Aussie hip hop guys Bliss N Eso, and loads more.

Jet were inducted into the Hall of Fame at the 2023 ARIA Awards. In his acceptance speech, lead vocalist Nic Cester referred to the violence unfolding in various parts of the globe at present. “There are some really tragic and atrocious things that are taking place around the world and it’s impossible not to [watch] the news at the moment and not be confronted by the destruction being committed through war, racism and politics,” Cester said.

“I know a lot of people have been divided and been struggling with this and it’s often moments like this when I’m reminded of the importance of art and music, which I think sit firmly at the opposite end of that spectrum, and music has always been an antidote in our lives during troubled moments.”
