Bloc Party have announced that they have signed with label Frenchkiss Records, best known for their stable of artists’ releases including The Drums, Les Savy Fav, The Dodos and Emma Louise.
Originally with label Wichita, through which the band released their first three albums, the move seems to come out of the love for the people involved and the label’s output, amongst the influence of the bands they work with as well.
This statement was released on the Bloc Party website:
“It is with great pleasure that i would like to announce to the universe that Bloc Party have now signed to Frenchkiss Records. This signing has made Bloc Party very happy because not only do we know and love the people at this label but we know and love this label’s output. Frenchkiss has released some mighty fine music over the years, music that has gone on to influence this very band.”
“So here’s to some more mighty fine music…”
Kele Okereke spoke to BBC1 Radio earlier this year, confirming the band have been working on what will be their fourth album, with over 15 songs written for the record so far.
