Bluesfest 2014 Second Lineup Announcement Coming This Week

The organisers of Byron Bay Bluesfest 2014 have revealed the date for their second lineup announcement via Twitter. The first announcement was made back in August and included John Mayer, John Butler Trio, and Dave Matthews Band.

UPDATE: The second Bluesfest 2014 lineup has dropped – full details here!

The second announcement will come this Tuesday, the organisers tweeting “Plans for the weekend? We’re busy getting the 2nd @BluesfestByron artist announcement ready for Tues 24 Sept. Can’t hardly wait!” Back in August, Bluesfest revealed their playing schedule, which despite the massive first announcement, looked a little sparse––prime for some more big additions!

Bluesfest promoter Peter Nobel has already revealed one of the big names, telling theMusic.com.au “I couldn’t get Dr John out in the last year or so, on a big record that he had all of a sudden. I’ll have him out next year. Oops, I haven’t announced that one yet…”

Some have speculated that the phrasing of the tweet wasn’t entirely arbitrary. There is talk that “Can’t hardly wait!” may be a not-so-subtle nod towards legendary punk rockers The Replacements, who had one of their most enduring and popular songs in the 1987 single Can’t Hardly Wait.

Bluesfest season is starting to heat up with the announcements of official sideshows to be played by the merry band that is Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros and some exclusive headline dates from Iron & Wine, including what’s sure to be an incredible performance at the Sydney Opera House.

With the aforementioned names, as well as Erykah Badu, Devendra Banhart, Michael Franti, Devendra Banhart, Morcheeba, Gary Clark Jr., KT Tunstall and more still to come, Bluesfest 2014 is set to be one of their biggest events yet!
