Bon Iver’s new and fourth studio album i,i was due for release on Friday 30th August, but overnight they decided to share more and more new songs. Now, the full album has been released — digitally at least.
The release frenzy started yesterday when they released three new songs, ‘iMi’, ‘Holyfields,’ and ‘We’. Then, overnight Bon Iver had fans staying up to watch the the territory-by-territory release of the following eight tracks.
Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon has described this album as “very much like the most adult record, the most complete”. It comes as the follow up to 22, A Million which was released back in 2016.
This new collection of songs from Bon Iver completes a cycle. Emma, Forever Ago marked Winter, Bon Iver marked Spring, 22, A Million Summer, and now i,i marks fall.
The new album, i,i was recorded (mostly) at Sonic Ranch in Texas. The physical edition is still due out on Friday 30th. Watch the lyric video for ‘Naeem’, the seventh track on the album, below.
