Boomerang Festival 2013 Adds To Inaugural Lineup

The inaugural Boomerang Festival has now announced the addition of Oceania collective Wantok: Sing Sing. The 17-piece outfit were a crowd favourite at the 2012 London Olympics Festival and managed to sell out both of their shows at the Sydney Opera House earlier this year.

For the Saturday and Sunday of the 3-day event, Wantok: Sing Sing will be performing Wan Solwara Pipel live, fusing their mix of Samoan street hip hop, tribal drumming, vocals en mass, reggae and dance in front of an audience who will no doubt be in awe.

Featuring an array of musicians including Frank Yamma, Djakapurra, George Telek, Vika and Linda Bull, Airileke, Albert David, Mariwo, Kas Futialo and Tieni Ruapene from Papua New Guinea, Australia, Samoa and Torres Strait Islands, Wantok: Sing Sing draws on a broad range of indigenous musical influences.

The group is a fitting addition to the event’s line up, which has put emphasis on indigenous talent. The sister event of Bluesfest will also feature Gurrumul, Archie Roach and Thelma Plum.
