Britney Spears’ Memoir ‘The Woman in Me’ is Out This Week

Britney Spears’ highly anticipated tell-all memoir The Woman In Me is set to be released on Tuesday, 24th October. The book has been in the works for around two years now, and is being spruiked by publisher Simon & Schuester as a “moving story about freedom, fame, motherhood, survival, faith, and hope”.

The book will reportedly dive into Spears’ rise to fame and her controversial 13-year conservatorship – which came to an end in 2021 after numerous legal stoushes and a massive public campaign – as well as her high-profile relationship with Justin Timberlake in the early 2000s.

Regarding that relationship, one of the revelations within the book, as reported by People, is that Spears fell pregnant with Timberlake’s child – but had an abortion after Timberlake expressed doubts about their capacity to have a child so young.

“If it had been left up to me alone, I never would have done it. And yet Justin was so sure that he didn’t want to be a father,” Spears writes in the book. “To this day, it’s one of the most agonising things I have ever experienced in my life.”

Timberlake hasn’t responded to any requests for comment. In a post on Instagram on Friday, Spears wrote that the purpose of the book “was not to offend anyone”.

“That was me then… that is in the past,” Spears wrote. “I don’t like some of the headlines I’m reading… that’s exactly why I quit the music business four years ago. Most of the book is from 20 years ago… I have moved on and it’s a beautiful clean slate from here.

“This is actually a book I didn’t know needed to be written… although some might be offended, it has given me closure on all things for a better future!!! Hopefully, I can enlighten people who feel particularly alone in most cases or hurt or misunderstood!!!”
