Chet Faker is returning home for some huge shows as his final Australian tour in support of his debut Built On Glass and now he’s given fans even more reason to get along to them, announcing a few stellar support acts.
Chet has picked four artists, Silicon, Awesome Tapes Of Africa, Cleopold and Otologic, to support him for his biggest Australian shows yet.
Kiwi project Silicon, led by Kody Nielson who is the brother of Unknown Mortal Orchestra’s Ruban Nielson, will support on all dates, playing tracks from their debut album Personal Computer.
Awesome Tapes Of Africa will bring an AV-aided DJ set to the stage at each of the shows, giving crowds a danceable history lesson in African music. The project originally started as a blog but has since blossomed into a vinyl label re-releasing African music globally.
LA-based, Australian newcomer Cleopold will also bring his brand of soulful electronica to the stage at all shows. He’s the first signing to Chet’s own label Detail Co and has impressed with his single Down In Flames, taken from his debut EP due for release in October.
Rounding out the support acts is Melbourne duo Otologic who will DJ in Sydney and Melbourne. The party-starters have made a name for themselves throwing events in Melbourne and playing festivals like Meredith and Splendour In The Grass. They’ll be amping up the crowd in between acts.
The good news doesn’t end there either. Organisers are also teasing more support acts and a host of special guests set to join Chet and his full band.
One of the shows on the Sydney Opera House Forecourt is already sold out but there are still tickets available for the other three shows.
