Childish Gambino’s New Video Has A Twist You Won’t See Coming

Childish Gambino has unveiled his latest music video, giving a cinematic treatment to Telegraph Ave, a cut taken from his acclaimed 2013 album, Because the Internet. The clip stars Bino’s collaborator Jhene Aiko as the rapper’s leading lady and culminates in a twist ending we guarantee you won’t see coming.

The clip features Gambino, the rapper alias of the multi-talented Donald Glover, and Aiko frolicking around the picturesque Hawaiian island of Kauai, from which the rapper’s recent EP, KAUAI, takes its name. The EP was released in tandem with his new Gangsta Grillz-sponsored mixtape, STN MTN.

Speaking to Billboard magazine at the iHeartRadio Music Festival, Glover explained that the STN MTN / KAUAI project is not only a direct continuation of the story established on his 2011 debut, Camp, and continued on Because the Internet, but will serve as a lead-in for his next full-length studio album.

“We have the Gangsta Grillz mixtape coming out. I feel like it’s the first concept mixtape ever,” Glover told Billboard. “It’s a mixtape that goes into the EP but they’re connected. It’s the same character and the same story from Because the Internet and Camp. It’s kind of like a nice in-between for the next album.”
