A.D.K.O.B Announce Australian Tour

Sydney’s indie pop experimenters A.D.K.O.B have announced an east coast Australian tour this May through early July, along with the release of a new track Ghost and accompanying video.

The band will play dates in Brisbane, Manly, Canberra, Sydney, Bondi, Wollongong, Newcastle, Adelaide and Melbourne as part of their headline tour.

A.D.K.O.B have also released a stirring new pop track, which makes elegant use of literal bucketloads of paint. The film clip was directed by the band’s drummer, Harry Simpson.

“Making the clip for Ghost was a great time,” said Simpson. “The majority of my experience dabbling in filmmaking has been more business focussed, and that’s all cool, however the artistic side of it all can suffer because of that.

“Making this clip was the first time for me that none of that stuff applied; We weren’t trying to sell someone’s shirt or app or whatever, apart from the song we weren’t even in it ourselves… We just made something we wanted to make.”

A.D.K.O.B has received high-rotation on Sydney’s FBi, triple j and Unearthed, the latter of which won them the Unearthed Sydney Laneway spot at this year’s Laneway Festival.

The band say they will release their second EP this year. Lead singer Mark Piccles says of the project, “I still started in the bedroom, with a crappy microphone and an idea that seems a bit wild. When I’m tracking stuff it’s best not to think too much about it. I call it the ‘green light.’ If there’s a green light in my head, I just do it.”

A.D.K.O.B are now about to hit the road in support of Sydney’s Montaigne, which means they should be all limbered up and well-rehearsed for May!
