Danny Carey, Drummer For Tool, Arrested At Kansas City Airport

Tool’s Danny Carey was apprehended by police following an alleged assault at Kansas City International Airport.

TMZ reports that the 60 year old Carey, who co-founded Tool in 1990, was booked for misdemeanour assault. The alleged incident involved Carey and an airport security worker.

In video obtained by TMZ, Carey disputes the charge of assault. “You’re arresting me for assault,” he says to an officer. “Who did I assault?” Later he can be heard saying, “I’m the drummer in Tool,” which isn’t enough to prevent his arrest.

Later in the clip, Carey struggles with police officers as they push him against a glass wall and place him in handcuffs.

After the arrest, Carey was apparently taken to a nearby police station to be booked. He was released from custody shortly afterwards. Although no charges have been pressed, TMZ reports that Carey could be fined $13,900 for the disturbance.

Carey is wearing a Kansas City Chiefs jersey in the video. The Chiefs played against the Las Vegas Raiders at Kansas City’s Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday, 12th December. The airport incident happened that same night. Carey was born in nearby Lawrence, Kansas and is often seen at Chiefs games.

Tool are touring the USA with support from Blonde Redhead in January-March 2022.
