Guns’ N Roses may not be the only veteran rock band to see a long-awaited reunion of key original members in 2016.
Former Smashing Pumpkin D’arcy Wretzky says she’s considering rejoining the band she started with Billy Corgan back in 1988, revealing that she’s already been asked to do so multiple times, despite not speaking to the Corganator since he fired her back in ’99.
It comes after original Pumpkins guitarist James Iha reunited with Corgan and drummer Jimmy Chamberlain on stage for the first time in 16 years, making Wretzky the only founding member to remain estranged from the band.
But that could be about to change. Speaking to BlastEcho about the Corgan-Iha reunion, the bassist called it “really healthy”, adding that she’s kept in contact with Iha “here and there” over the years.
Wretzky also told them she’d been approached about rejoining Pumpkins no less than four times, and would “consider going back” but that “Circumstances would have to be a certain way”.
“It’s much too complicated,” she added. “I wouldn’t be able to tell you anyway.”
But maybe she’s just trying to disarm us.
