A teary mother has gone viral, reading out the lyrics to US rapper Vince Staples‘ Norf Norf over Facebook live.
The mother of four was shocked when she heard the expletive-filled song on a commercial radio station while driving her kids to school. She “could not believe” what she was hearing and took to Facebook to read out the lyrics as she occasionally sobbed.
“I just want you moms and dads to beware what your kids are listening to can have an impact on their lives,” she says.
The video has since gone viral picking up millions of views over numerous platforms and while she seems to be the butt of a joke now, Staples has come to her defence.
In an unexpected turn, Staples told The Independent, “I don’t think it’s funny at all.”
“It’s not right to attack someone over their stance, their opinions, and their religion. I think that’s very immature.”
He continued with a very intellectual explanation of why we need to lay off the mother and it’s so good, he may even impress her with his words.
“We already have a lot of issues between black and white relations in this country based on misunderstandings,” he further said.
“In my eyes, she doesn’t look like a racist. She doesn’t look like a mean person. It’s not very responsible for people to try to take that and jump, looking for some sort of commentary on these issues. It’s just not right that’s she’s being attacked. It’s not okay.”
He further took to Twitter to say that he had been misquoted saying that she seemed to be “emotionally unstable”.
Still he defended her right to an opinion writing, “No person needs to be attacked for their opinion on what they see to be appropriate for their children. They have a right to it.”
