Double J Is Replaying The Hottest 100 Of 2000 In Full

Our happiness is slowly creeping back with the news that Double J is replaying the  Hottest 100 of 2000 in full this month.

That’s right, be still elder millennial beating hearts and get ready to ‘rip it up’, as Double J is bringing the Hottest 100 of 2000 in all of its turn-of-the-millennium weirdness back to your earholes.

Topped by Powderfinger’s iconic ‘My Happiness’, the Hottest 100 of 2000 is home to a ton of iconic bangers like Wheatus’ ‘Teenage Dirtbag’, The Avalanche’s ‘Frontier Psychologist’, Foo Fighters ‘Generator,  Dandy Warhol’s ‘Bohemian Like You’, Rage Against The Machine’s ‘Sleep Now In The Fire’, Bodyjar’s ‘Not The Same’ and Limp Bizkit’s ‘My Generation’.  It also features U2’s ‘Beautiful Day’ at the #2 slot, which honestly, in hindsight feels it might have been a bit of gag by triple j listeners.

While the top of the countdown is home to tunes you’re still hearing flogged on the commercial stations daily, the real fun in this countdown is in revisiting the stuff outside of the top 10, most of which is great and a lot of which is very much ~ the year 2000 ~.

Where else are you going to hear the likes of Bomfunk MC’s ‘Freestyler’, or Groove Armada’s ‘I See You Baby’, played on the same show as Slipknot’s ‘Wait and Bleed’, Millencolin’s ‘Penguins and Polarbears’ and George’s absolute gem ‘Bastard Son’?

From Magic Dirt’s ‘Dirty Jeans’ to The Superjesus ‘Gravity’, Lo-Tel’s ‘Teenager of the Year’ (remember Looking For Alibrandi anyone?), to 28 Days ‘Rip It Up’, Jebediah’s ‘Please Leave’ and of course, Silverchair’s ‘Paint Pastel Princess’, the countdown is also choc-full of Aussie rock icons turning it up and letting it rip in a myriad of styles.

It also contains OPM ‘Heaven is A Half-pipe’ and Machine Gun Fellatio’s ‘Unsent Letter’ – two songs that are just impossible not to enjoy, no matter how ridiculous they are!

The replay will hit the airwaves on Sunday 25th January, so tune in and enjoy time travel.
