Drake’s New Album, ‘Scorpion’, Has Completely Obliterated Streaming Records

On Friday, Drake dropped his highly anticipated fifth studio album Scorpion and, to no surprise at all, it has completely smashed a whole bunch of streaming records.

Both Spotify, who made damn sure everyone heard the album, and Apple Music report that Drake has given them unprecedented listenership for a first day release. Over on their Instagram, Apple Music said that Scorpion received 170 million streams in 24 hours. They also say that is the most streams in a single day across any streaming service.

Spotifycharts, which provides a huge database of listening data, shows that Scorpion was streamed 132 million times over the period of 24 hours. On top of that, Spotify shared on Twitter that the album was being streamed over 10 million times an hour at one point.

The record for Spotify’s first-day listenership was held by Post Malone, when he dropped his album Beerbongs & Bentleys back in April. Drake obliterated that, however, with Malone’s album only earning 79 million streams in one day.
