Sydney rock trio DZ Deathrays are about to pack their bags and head overseas to storm the UK and European summer festival season, which includes a big turn at Germany’s iconic Rock Am Ring festival with Linkin Park. Prior to their departure, they’ve given Aussie fans something to remember them by; a stomping new single dubbed ‘Sideways’ which they literally wrote in their sleep.
“Lachy actually dreamt the riff in this song and somehow we turned it into a woozy dance punk track,” guitarist Shane Parsons explains.

“I like the way this track almost makes you feel like you’re on a speedboat on the verge of getting sea sick but the adrenaline is keeping you focused,” he adds.
‘SIDEWAYS’ follows the release of previous stand alone singles ‘Like No Other’ and ‘First Night Fever’, as the group move to shake the weight of their monumental career by bringing things back to their roots, flagging a renewed focus on lighthearted entertainment, creativity and performance.
