Ecca Vandal Shares New Single ‘Battle Royal’, Announces East Coast Shows

South African-born Ecca Vandal is back with another banger, teaming pop sensibilities with her fiery punk ferociousness on new single Battle Royal. The Aussie-livin’ muso has also announced brand-new shows in Sydney and Melbourne, and a music video for her latest studio effort.

The unrelenting Battle Royal (below) sees Vandal’s no-bullshit punk rock tones pair up with a powerful vibrato and knack for strong melodic hooks. There’s an expert swagger, mirrored in the bratty music video, which was directed by Andrew Stalph and Vandal’s musical collaborator Kidnot.

The snotty vibe behind Battle Royal first showed its fangs on Vandal’s brutal debut single White Flag, which Music Feeds was happy to premiere last year. The two singles, dotted by key influences such as Bjork, Miles Davis, Mr Bungle and Fugazi, exemplify a DIY mindset and wide-ranging taste.

Vandal has only performed live once in the past, but the wait for more shows is now over. Vandal has locked in a performance at Sydney’s Goodgod Small Club in March, as well as a four-date residency at Melbourne’s Gasometer to accompany her performance at Perth’s HyperFest. Show and ticket details are available below.

Battle Royal is set for release on Friday, 20th February.
