Elvis Costello and The Imposters have announced the cancellation of their Thursday, 17th April Bluesfest Sideshow date at Adelaide’s Thebarton Theatre, taking to their official Facebook page to break the news to fans and citing underwhelming ticket sales as motivating the plug-pull.
“It is with regret that Chugg Entertainment today confirms that Elvis Costello & The Imposters’ Adelaide date at the Thebarton Theatre…will no longer be going ahead. Less than anticipated ticket sales have unfortunately made it impossible to proceed,” writes the show’s promoter.
“It seems you are too few in number for our show at the Thebarton Theatre to go ahead,” open the band. “We regret any inconvenience and disappointment caused. We are sorry not to be visiting your fair city and state, as the opportunities to do so in the future may not be numerous.”
“So long, it’s been good to know you,” they conclude. The band’s show at Sydney’s State Theatre on Wednesday, 23rd April, as well as their appearances at Deni Blues & Roots Festival in Deniliquin and the highly-anticipated 24th anniversary of Bluesfest will go ahead as planned.

UPDATE 30/01/14: Elvis Costello has added a Melbourne show at Hamer Hall on Thursday 17th April following a public outcry that a headline performance for the city was left off the his upcoming Australian tour schedule. The Melbourne date will replace the recently cancelled Adelaide performance.
