In a move that would’ve made far more sense in 1999, Eminem is re-releasing The Slim Shady LP as a cassette.
The 1999 classic which featured tracks My Name Is, Guilty Conscience and I Just Don’t Give A Fuck, is currently being teased as a bundle including a cassette and a black t-shirt.
While t-shirts are very much still in fashion, most people would find it very hard to locate a cassette player given that they were rendered useless when the CD was introduced and even more useless when the MP3 rose to prominence.
Still, Em is going to flog the bundle for around $40 which will surely be snapped up quickly by mega-fans.
“Dust off that Sony Sports yellow walkman. It’s in your closet,” the rapper wrote on Twitter, teasing the release with a video which admittedly makes it look quite cool. It’s unknown why he’s chosen to re-release the album now although it did turn 16 on 23rd February.
The last CD he dropped was 2013’s The Marshall Mathers LP 2, a record which nabbed him a Grammy for Best Rap Album.
