Experimental Rockers Battles Announce New Album ‘Juice B Crypts’, Listen To The First Track

Rock oddities Battles have announced their fourth studio album, Juice B Crypts, will be released via Warp Records on Friday, 18th October.

It’s the first new album for the band – now a duo after the departure of member Dave Konopka last year – since their 2015 release La Di Da Di.

To coincide with the announcement, the band have shared the lead single, ‘Titanium 2 Step’, which features Sal Principato of no wave legends Liquid Liquid.

“We loved making this record in our hometown of New York and cannot be more pleased that Sal from Liquid Liquid is on the track. It could not have been more perfect,” says the band’s John Stainer about the track.

As far as the album’s concerned, Stainer’s bandmate Ian Williams has explained it’s “about chord progressions, resolutions, returning home. Take that and throw it into a blender of modern electronic tools like glitching devices, or use melodic lines and take them and regurgitate them and pulverise the traditional stuff but at the same time try and retain harmonic relationships while completely smashing them up.”

In addition to Principato, the album has a ton of other interesting features. It will include Taipei psych-rock act Prairie WWWW, Jon Anderson of legendary prog band Yes, tUnE-yArDs and Shabazz Palaces.
