Falls Festival Lorne Moved To New Venue

The Lorne leg of Falls Festival has been moved, as a ferocious bushfire continues to tear through the region.

Organisers held crisis talks with local emergency services today to discuss their options, ultimately deciding the threat was too severe to proceed on the original site. The festival will now be held at the Mount Duneed Estate on Pettavel Road, just north of Torquay.

The Falls Festival Lorne site is nestled in the heart of dense bushland at Falls Farm, less than 15 kilometres from the suburb of Lorne – which was issued an emergency evacuation order this morning.

Thousands of residents and holidaymakers were forced to get the hell out of dodge, after the blaze wiped out 53 homes in the region.

More than 300 firefighters remain on the scene, as the Christmas inferno continues to rage out of control.

Statement from Falls Festival

Falls Lorne event update! We have been working very hard over the past 24 hours to secure a new venue for the festival, and we’re pleased to announce that the show will go ahead nearby at the Mount Duneed Estate! We have been working closely with the local emergency services, Councils and CFA and unfortunately the Lorne farm is a potential high risk site for the 2015 event. We would like to thank the Byron Shire and Geelong Councils, emergency services and A Day On The Green. Our hearts and thoughts are with our local communities

All Lorne tickets will be accepted at the gates and scanned by Falls and Oztix
staff. As the festival is proceeding, refunds will not be offered, however for those who would prefer to attend another event we are offering Lorne patrons the opportunity to switch their tickets to the Marion Bay or Byron Bay festivals.
