Tasmania’s ultra-boutique A Festival Called Panama has just unveiled the first round of artists for its 2017 event, so prepare to be impressed y’all.
Topping the bill for the fourth instalment of the forest festival is American multi-instrumentalist Kurt Vile — who’ll be appearing exclusively in Tasmania in addition to his previously announced 2017 mainland tour dates — alongside countrywoman Margarest Glaspy and a bunch of top-shelf locals including D.D Dumbo, Koi Child, Gabriella Cohen, Jack Grace, Tinpan Orange and many more.
They’ll take to the main stage at the three-day camping festival, while smaller venues set in old canvas tents and tiny candlelit bars will host sideshows of wild jazz, world class cabarets, intimate acoustic sessions, DJ sets and and storytelling from one of the world’s most celebrated radio producers, The Memory Palace‘s Nate DiMeo.
Last year’s A Festival Called Panama saw performances from the likes of Nigerian afrobeat pioneers Seun Kuti and Egypt 80, American singer-songwriter Natalie Prass, New Zealand crooners Marlon Williams and the Yarra Benders, Melbourne R&B pop act The Harpoons, Perth’s Methyl Ethel and loads more.
And in keeping with its proud tradition, Panama 2017 will once again present a carefully curated lineup of rising stars and celebrated cult figures from around the country (and the world) performing in Tassie’s Lone Star Valley against the picturesque backdrop of the towering Panama Forest.
A Festival Called Panama 2017 will go down across the weekend of March 10th, 11th, and 12th on the Apple Isle, and coming off the back of two sold-out years with only 1,400 tickets on offer this time around, you’d better get in quick if you don’t want to miss out.
