FIDLAR Do Billie Eilish’s ‘Xanny’ For ‘Like A Version’ And We’re Stoked About It

Punk rocker boys, FIDLAR have taken on fellow Californian, Billie Eilish for this week’s Like a Version. They chose Eilish’s ‘Xanny’ to somehow slow down but speed up at the same time.

FIDLAR’s stance on ~ substances ~ is no secret, so ‘Xanny’ was an interesting choice. The original ‘Xanny’ is all about Eilish’s experience of being at a party, surrounded by friends who are drinking or doing drugs. She kind of explains the feeling of being sober but surrounded by her inebriated friends and the loneliness involved.

FIDLAR frontman, Zac Carper changes the lyrics around and sings from the perspective of Billie Eilish’s mates. Where she originally sings “Only one who’s not stoned”, Carper sings, “Only one who can’t stoke”. Where the lyrics are “I don’t need a xanny to feel better”, Carper sings, “I just need a xanny…”. “Still just drinking canned coke” becomes “stayed up doing bad coke”.

They also performed ‘By Myself’, the lead single off of Almost Free. It gets loads faster and just as fun.

Watch both performances below. FIDLAR will perform at Splendour in the Grass this weekend.
