Foo Fighters‘ horror-comedy film, STUDIO 666, based on a story by Dave Grohl and starring the band members, is coming to Australian cinemas for one week, beginning Thursday, 24th February.
The official trailer came out earlier this month, giving us a taste of the cinematic thrills on offer.
The band moves into a haunted mansion where they plan to record their tenth album. But as they settle into the mansion – which is supposedly steeped in the darker side of rock and roll history – chaos brews and the completion of the album, not to mention the band members’ lives, are put in jeopardy.
“Like most things Foo, STUDIO 666 began with a far fetched idea that blossomed into something bigger than we ever imagined possible,” said Grohl.
All six band members – Grohl, Nate Mendel, Pat Smear, Taylor Hawkins, Chris Shiflett and Rami Jaffee – feature throughout, along with Whitney Cummings, Leslie Grossman, Will Forte, Jenna Ortega and Jeff Garlin.
Foo Fighters have a history of comical and somewhat ridiculous music videos. The most famous is the surrealist video for 1997’s ‘Everlong’, directed by Michel Gondry. Other classics include ‘Learn to Fly’ from 1999, which parodies the movie Airplane! and won the Grammy for Best Music Video; and 2002’s ‘Low’, starring Grohl and Jack Black as hard rocking yokels.
