Frank Iero Cancels 2016 Tour Dates Following Sydney Bus Crash

UPDATE: 23/10/16: Frank Iero has dropped a new song ‘Oceans’ off his forthcoming LP with The Patience to thank fans for their support following the Sydney crash.

ORIGINAL STORY: Former My Chemical Romance member Frank Iero and his band The Patience have been forced to pull the plug on all of their remaining 2016 tour dates, following a horror road accident in Sydney during their Australian tour.

In a statement (via Alternative Press), the band have announced the cancellation of all of their remaining tour dates this year, including their final Aussie date in Sydney and an extensive run scheduled in the US “due to the severity of injuries sustained in Australia”.

The band are still recovering after a bus slammed into their stationary tour van as they were unloading gear ahead of their appearance at Twitter headquarters and a show at Sydney’s The Metro Theatre last Thursday.

Despite Iero confirming that he himself did not suffer any serious injuries during the crash, My Chemical Romance have since confirmed that two of Iero’s bandmates were badly injured and have had to undergo surgery.

Though their identities have yet to be officially confirmed, it’s believed those two bandmates are Iero’s brother-in-law and lead guitarist Evan Nestor and drummer Matt Olsson, the latter of whom has since posted a picture of Sydney Harbour on Instagram, along with the words: “Grateful for my existence today. And that my friends are safe. Thanks to everyone for all the well wishes and kind words. It does mean a lot and im just grateful for so many things rn.”

Others are speculating that one of the injured men is actually the band’s manager, Paul Clegg. While bassist Alex Grippo has confirmed that he himself is A-OK, and was not present at the time of the accident:

The extent of Iero’s bandmates’ wounds are not yet known, however police have confirmed that two men aged 35 and 42 suffered “serious leg injuries” as a result of the crash, while another 29-year-old man escaped serious injury and was treated at the scene for “cuts and bruises”.

Such a sucky thing to happen to them in our country. Let’s hope they all get well soon.
