Future Music Festival Just Added Darude To Their 2015 Lineup

After Peking Duk outed themselves as shameless crowd-pleasers at Stereosonic this year, dropping the oft-aped, never-fail 1999 trance anthem Sandstorm to rapturous acclaim, Future Music Festival organisers have gone one better and added the man himself, Darude, to their lineup for 2015.

Demand for Darude down under has been steadily building this year, and Future Music have taken note. The festival left the bulk of the announcement to 28-year-old Melburnian Rei Barker, who has this year been campaigning to bring Darude to Australia, even starting a Pozible campaign to help get things moving.

“It wasn’t successful,” says Barker in a video posted to Facebook this morning. “But Future Music have come in and saved the day… chipped in the rest and now Darude is coming to play Future Music. It’s going to be fucking awesome.”

Darude, aka Finnish producer Ville Virtanen, has sold over 2.5 million copies of Sandstorm and though he may have never topped his breakout hit that doesn’t mean he’s been dragged out of retirement. The now-Atlanta-based DJ remained active through the 2000s, with a fourth album due for release some time next year. And if he doesn’t play Sandstorm at Future, well, we’re sure Peking Duk won’t be too far away.
