Gang Of Youths Share ‘In The Wake Of Your Leave’ Clip

Gang Of Youths have shared a stunningly choreographed clip to accompany their most recent single, ‘in the wake of your leave’.

Released on Friday, 7th January, the single is the fifth to be taken from their upcoming record Angel In Realtime, which is frontman Dave Le’aupepe’s ode to the “life and legacy” of his late father. It is due to explore themes of “Indigenous identity, death, grief and God. And also the Angel, Islington.”

In a press release for ‘in the wake of your leave’s release earlier in the month, Le’aupepe spoke on the track’s meaning.

“I wanted to reflect on how I became dependent on grief for solace and inspiration,” he said.

“The cycle from numbness to acceptance to yearning plays a role in my approach to grieving my dad’s death. As a result, most of the time, I feel a bit futile as a person.”

The new clip expertly feels like a one take clip, with the camera only staving when Le’aupepe ducks out to change his costume. The choreography is impeccable, with various characters chiming in throughout, including a man on his way home from work, a mime, and a police officer.

The band wrote in an Instagram post that the track “came easy compared to much of the record.”
