Go Violets Announce Split

Brisbane’s favourite ethereal jangle pop-makers have announced that “after an amazing three year journey, Go Violets is coming to a close.” The band had a strong following in their native Queensland and in the past have supported the likes of Bleeding Knees Club and Thee Oh Sees.

“We are incredibly grateful for the opportunities that we have been given to make friends, meet and discover new bands, and travel the country. We’d like to thank our friends, family and fans who have encouraged and supported us along the way, especially in the Brisbane community. We will all be continuing with our own artistic endeavors so stay tuned,” write the band on their Facebook page.

Go Violets have announced that as a farewell to fans, they will play two last shows next month, one to take place at Brisbane’s Trainspotters on Saturday, 29th March, with the other to be an all ages event with details forthcoming. The band’s last single was Wanted, unveiled back in September.

Before the announcement of their dissolution, the band was updating fans via Facebook on recording sessions taking place with Patience Hodgson and John Patterson of fellow Brisbane indie outfit The Grates. It’s not clear at this time whether these recordings will see a release.
