Listen To Gorillaz And Thundercat’s New Collab ‘Cracker Island’

Gorillaz have shared a new collaboration with Thundercat titled ‘Cracker Island’. It’s a grooving, shimmering banger with Thundercat’s virtuosic bass-playing all over it. “It’s nice to be back, I’m well into our new tune, it brings back weird and scary memories of stuff that hasn’t happened yet,” reads a comment from the virtual band’s frontman, 2D.

‘Cracker Island’ marks the digital group’s first new music since their Meanwhile EP in 2021. Their last album, the first season of their Song Machine series, arrived back in 2020, featuring collaborations with the likes of Robert Smith, Beck, St. Vincent, Slowthai and more. The new track seems indicative that there’s more on the horizon, with fans being invited to join something called The Last Cult, with a press release describing bassist Murdoc as its “self-appointed Great Leader.”

Gorillaz are headed to Australian shores next month, when they’ll headline this year’s much-anticipated return of Splendour in the Grass alongside the likes of The Strokes, Tyler, the Creator, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Glass Animals, Liam Gallagher, Kacey Musgraves and heaps more. They’ll also play a trio of their own headline shows, playing arenas in Melbourne (24th July, sold out), Sydney (26th July) and Adelaide (28th July).
