A State Government grant has been announced for alcohol and drug free events for youths under 18. The $110,000 grant, announced by George Souris, is said to assist young people in funding events for contemporary music and live performances.
Titled Indent, the project is aimed to fund festivals, music video competitions, band nights and other competitions. In response to the announcement, George Souris stated. “The Indent project is a key skills development opportunity for any young person interested in finding out more about the music and entertainment industries.” Souris continued to say that “From the grants, the tour and the many workshops on offer, Indent empowers young people by giving them the skills and confidence to take control of their local youth events.”
In addition to the grants, Indent will provide further assistance to young people wanting to find out more about the all ages industry, through the launch of “X Festival: A Do – It – Yourself Guide To Running Music Events”, the annual Open Day mini conference on March 9 and the continued annual workshop program.
U18 events have become more and more popular with last year’s Breakout Festival being highly successful, hosting acts such as LMFAO, The Bloody Beetroots, Armin Van Buren, 360 and Marvin Priest.
