Green Day have announced that Billie Joe Armstrong will be heading to rehab following his outburst at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas over the weekend.
Armstrong let rip at organisers when it appeared that the band’s set had been cut short; however, a statement posted on the band’s Facebook page just hours ago reveals that the band’s set wasn’t actually cut short and that Armstrong will now be “seeking treatment for substance abuse.”

Billie Joe is seeking treatment for substance abuse. We would like everyone to know that our set was not cut short by Clear Channel and to apologize to those we offended at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas. We regretfully must postpone some of our upcoming promotional appearances.
The news comes as quite a surprise considering most fans hailed the frontman for his antics and E! News had reported that he was laughing and joking with fans backstage after the incident.
