Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong Issues Call To Arms For “Young Rock N Rollers” In 2018

As we count down the final dregs of the dumpster fire of a year that has been 2017, Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has taken some time to look ahead with hope for the years to come.

Reflecting on his visit to the Andy Warhol Museum, the punk rock legend shared a fiery and inspirational call to arms for the “young rock n rollers” of the world, which TBH just about everyone could take as their New Year’s resolution for 2018.

Perhaps imagining the new generation of future punks out there whose powers are lying dormant, waiting for someone to be the spark that will light the fire that will burn the First Order down, Armstrong said:

“Dear young rock n rollers. Be brave. Be tough. Spit your anger. Piss people off. Don’t be normal. Don’t be trendy. Be loud. Live out loud. Cuss . Swear. Be offensive. Tell the truth. YOUR truth. Fuck authority. Spray paint the walls with your song titles. Be dirty. Smash glass. Make a statement. Don’t be a wimp. Don’t be a follower. Unhinged. We need more young rebel heroes with loud guitars.”

Hopefully his words will trigger some kind of… awakening.

Until then, you can catch Green Day’s American Idiot: The Musical touring Australia from January of 2018.
